    The laboratory / facility handling cultures must follow it or better alternative as applicable-

    1. All fungal (microbial) cultures must be autoclaved before discarding.

    2. All substrate, media and degradable materials coming in contact with fungus be preferrably autoclaved or incinerated (as applicable) before releasing outside the lab.

    3. The plastic culture plates (shrunk after autoclaving) be removed from autoclave at 50-60 deg C and rinsed in running tap water to remvoe most of the media traces. It may be air or oven dried before storing in a suitable size bin. The collected plastic waste be discarded as per local regulatory laws. 

    4. Follow local regulatory laws to prevent unwarranted release of fungus / mushrooms in the surroundings.
